The Fish Head Nebula, or IC 1795 is an emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia, located along the Perseus spiral arm of the Milky Way. The brighter region of the nebula is home to many young and large stars, and they radiate high amounts of ultraviolet light. This ultraviolet radiation excites the surrounding gas and causes it to shine at a high brightness.
The synthetic RGB stars in this image was created using the combination of SHO narrowband filters, in a formula that was as close to RGB color as possible. The colors were then adjusted using the GAIA spectroscopic survey database to match the true colors of the stars.
