The Flying Bat Nebula, also called SH2-129 and the Squid Nebula, also called OU4 is a diffuse nebula in the constellation Cepheus. Although it may not be visible in my image due to the focal length of my telescope, the large red region (which gets its color from ionized hydrogen atoms) is supposed to look like a flying bat and was discovered back in the 1950s. The blue region (which gets its color from ionized oxygen atoms) was actually not discovered until as late as 2011 because it is so faint, and it is shaped like a squid.
