Building an Observatory Part 6

It’s finally time to cut down the big birch tree that has been a thorn in my side for a while now. It’s a very big tree, it’s also right next to power lines for multiple properties and it’s not on my property. It’s also blocking a big part of my western sky so after some negotiation with the owner I got permission to cut it down. The tree is the reason for me waiting with framing on the actual foundation, just to minimize the risk of damaging something when cutting the tree down.

I will also continue to work on the roof as well as take you through my initial thoughts on how to make the roof open and close and how to control the slide gate motor that I got. My plan is to integrate the roof mechanism into my home automation system, making it possible to control it from my phone from anywhere instead of using the remote button with very limited range.
