As a complete novice in astrophotography I was overwhelmed with information when I started doing research into what type of eqipment necessary. After reading a lot of articles, watching a lot of youtube videos and attending a telescope café event hosted by the SAAF (Swedish Amateur Astronomy Association) I felt I had enough information to make a choice.
Since the mount is cruical and I wanted one that would be able to handle an upgrade in the future so I decided on the Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro GoTo. With astrophotography in mind and the fact that I’m just starting I chose the Skywatcher Evostar 80ED Pro refractor with the Skywatcher 0,85x focal reducer.
Knowing that I would be dissapointed without autoguidning I also got the Skywatcher Evoguide 50ED guide scope and the ZWO ASI 120MM Mini guide camera. Since I already have a DSLR I’m starting with the Canon EOS 60D and got the appropriate adaptors to be able to attach that to the telescope.
I’m planning on using a laptop to control all equipment and will describe that in detail in a later post.
Since we are still suffering from the effects of the pandemic I was forced to order some of this equipment from Germany. I’m expecting to receive everything within a week or so.
